Kerrera Wind Turbine & Battery Storage System
INSTALLED: SDWE SD6 6kW Wind Turbine - 9m Hydraulic Tower 14kW BYD Battery bank + Victron InverterNordri was approached to spec, supply and install a small wind turbine on the island of Kerrera on the west coast of Scotland.
We worked with SD Wind Energy to offer an appropriate turbine and tower combination, as well as our wholesale suppliers to design a battery system which could charge from the wind turbine.
The battery had to discharge during high energy use to reduce demand from the grid, but also be able to provide essential off grid power during a powercut.
The system was delivered to Oban and onto Kerrera via a small landing craft right onto the beach, and engineers attended site to do the full installation and commissioning in a single visit. The system used also features an online monitoring allowing Nordri to keep track of the systems performance but also be aware of any faults or downtime without attending site. Some diagnostics and repairs can even be done remotely.
